About The Position

The Overnight Receiving Supervisor directs and oversees warehouse operations at a retail store, supervising warehouse specialists, order pickers, and forklift operators. The role manages the daily freight schedule based on customer and inventory needs and oversees staffing, shipping, receiving, maintenance, inventory control, safety, training, and warehouse procedures. The supervisor also coordinates with other departments, resolves shipping and receiving discrepancies, handles employee inquiries, and completes management reports. The position works in a warehouse environment with moving vehicles and moderate-to-noisy sound levels. It involves frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, and bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must be able to exert force to move objects, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling.

Requirements

1–3 years of previous supervisory experience; warehouse or distribution center experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, team-building, delegating, and follow-up skills.
Ability to work with and maintain effective working relationships with other company departments.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Competence in basic mathematical calculations.
Strong computer skills, including the ability to work in Windows-based systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines.
Availability to work extended hours, especially during peak seasons.
Ability to exert 30–60 pounds of force occasionally, 20–30 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Ability to handle or feel objects with the hands and fingers and to perform frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Responsibilities

Schedule warehouse personnel daily to ensure appropriate staffing for productive and cost-efficient shipping and receiving.
Direct daily warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, maintenance, and inventory control.
Oversee Storage Buy transactions, receiving errors, and product staging.
Maintain warehouse equipment, implement preventive maintenance programs, and communicate necessary repairs to the CEM and/or Operations Manager.
Ensure warehouse personnel have safe and efficient equipment for distribution work.
Oversee warehouse safety programs and maintain a safe, clean workplace in accordance with applicable OSHA, local, and state regulations.
Ensure associates are trained and follow standard operating procedures.
Manage progressive discipline, including counseling and oral and written warnings, and support a productive labor climate.
Handle general employee inquiries and resolve problems.
Coordinate with other departments to facilitate efficient warehouse operations.
Complete required Activity Reports for management.
Monitor paperwork flow from Receiving to the Inventory Control Specialist for timely data entry.
Resolve discrepancies involving shipping, invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.
Execute the Storage Buy Audit COP.
Ensure products are staged for counting and inspection.
Ensure products are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
Oversee inventory rotation within the warehouse.
Perform other related duties as directed by management.
