About The Position

Spruce Lake Ministries, through its summer camp programs at Spruce Lake and Pinebrook, serves children aged 5-18. Each summer, the ministry seeks individuals who are responsible, fun-loving, and possess a desire to guide others towards Christ. The Overnight Camp Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in the organization and oversight of the overnight camp program and its staff, working in conjunction with the Overnight Camp Manager. This position is a key member and leader of the Summer Leadership Team.

  • Conduct her/himself behaviorally in a manner that is above reproach, realizing that the greatest potential for ministry in camping is achieved through the witness of the Christ-like lives of the team.
  • Be spiritually mature enough to take initiative in using the resources available to grow and to encourage others to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Be emotionally and socially mature enough to relate to, cooperate with, and lead a diverse team of individuals in the camp community.
  • Learn and uphold all camp policies and guidelines as outlined in the team manual and other appropriate area manuals.
  • Possess the integrity to faithfully fulfill the commitment of service agreed upon in a positive manner.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to work independently, set deadlines & manage details.
  • Ability to enthusiastically lead large groups & give clear instructions.
  • Teachable spirit, team-player attitude, servant heart, responsible, industrious, flexible, enthusiastic.
  • Able to make sound decisions in the event of emergencies.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Must be able to pass FBI Criminal Background fingerprint clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance and PA Criminal History Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Youth camp experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all program aspects of overnight camp; planning, preparing, enthusiastically running and evaluating activities throughout the summer.
  • Lead team meetings and emcee large group activities.
  • Spiritually shepherd the staff members on the summer team.
  • Active support for camper behavior management and intervention.
  • Set up and run audio/visual equipment for worship times.
  • Distribute and collect weekly paperwork.
  • Coordinate with other leadership staff to respond to overnight needs.
  • Attend weekly staff fireside and community groups.
  • Attend summer staff outing.
