About The Position

NABRICO Marine Products is seeking a safety-focused Overhead Crane Operator to join our team in Ashland City, Tennessee. In this role, you will safely operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to move, position, and stage steel materials and fabricated components throughout the manufacturing process. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with welders, fitters, supervisors, and other production team members to support barge construction operations. NABRICO Marine Products is a leading manufacturer of inland barges and marine products serving the U.S. inland waterway system. Our products help transport essential commodities including grain, coal, aggregates, petroleum products, fertilizers, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes throughout the nation's waterways. In addition to manufacturing dry cargo and tank barges, NABRICO Marine Products is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers and produces a complete line of marine deck hardware, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Basic knowledge of rigging practices, load control, and safe lifting procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, spotters, and supervisors.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of overhead crane, industrial equipment, heavy equipment, or material handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to move steel plates, structural components, assemblies, and materials throughout the facility.
  • Position and stage materials to support fabrication, fitting, welding, and production activities.
  • Inspect cranes, rigging, lifting devices, and equipment before use to ensure safe operation.
  • Follow hand signals, radio communications, and verbal instructions from spotters, supervisors, and production personnel.
  • Assist with rigging loads and ensuring materials are properly secured before lifting or moving.
  • Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, and potential hazards while operating cranes.
  • Complete routine equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
