About The Position

As an Outside Sales Rep – Trench Safety at United Rentals, you will be the primary customer contact for underground trench safety equipment rentals and supplies. Customers include contract companies and non-building, industrial, and commercial building contractors. The role uses sales initiative to grow branch revenue while providing exceptional customer service. It includes a base salary and monthly performance-based commissions, with a minimum monthly guarantee incentive during onboarding and training. This position is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Requirements

Three years of sales experience.
Strong planning, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
Diligent attention to safety.
Certification in Competent Person Training and Confined Space.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Knowledge of construction, trench safety, or related equipment; candidates with comparable industry experience, strong sales acumen, and a record of achievement will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Maximize revenue from facilities and construction sites in a defined geographical territory.
Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers and their subsidiary companies, serving as a single point of contact.
Demonstrate available Trench Safety products and train customers in their use.
Contact potential customers to arrange demonstrations and on-site visits.
Prepare sales action plans and strategies.
Collaborate with general rentals representatives to promote cross-selling to accounts.
Instruct Competent Person Training and Confined Space Training classes.
Install equipment and work with personnel installing equipment as needed.
Use Salesforce.com and other CRM tools to develop a pipeline of opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
