About The Position

Branom Instrument Company is a leading manufacturers' representative and master distributor specializing in process instrumentation and industrial automation. We provide solutions for controlling and monitoring flow, level, pressure, temperature, analytics, and calibration, along with on-site instrument service and repair. We represent over 100 market-leading companies and have been fostering strong relationships since 1947. We are seeking a proactive and independent Outside Sales Representative/Engineer to join our expanding team. This role will operate remotely within the Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, and Western Montana region, managing assigned territories (Western Montana, Central Washington, Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho). The ideal candidate will reside in or be willing to relocate to the territory, preferably near Spokane, WA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a science, math, or engineering curriculum.
  • At least 3 years of sales experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data and information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database software, Project Management software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid Driver's License with a favorable driving abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer relationships within the assigned territory (Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, Western Montana).
  • Provide technical sales support and determine customer pricing strategies for various manufacturers at customer locations, virtually, at trade shows, and through various communication channels.
  • Manage all aspects of the sales cycle, including identifying opportunities, specifying products, delivering presentations to end-users and facility personnel, developing relationships with purchasing departments, and overseeing product commissioning support.
  • Utilize the company CRM (Odoo) for customer database management, project tracking, opportunity management, and generating performance reports.
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales and Technical Support teams to understand and meet customer needs.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to meet with regular and prospective customers for order solicitation and technical application advice.
  • Display and demonstrate products using samples, electronic, and printed literature, emphasizing salable features.
  • Quote prices, credit terms, and prepare sales contracts with assistance from Inside Sales.
  • Estimate delivery dates based on production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare reports of business transactions and manage expense accounts.
  • Penetrate target accounts and expand sales within the client base.
  • Investigate and resolve customer problems and delivery issues.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers from various sources including business directories, industry ads, trade shows, and websites.
  • Attend trade shows, training sessions, and other meetings on behalf of the company.
  • Coordinate customer training.
