This role is an opportunity to play a part in delivering the future of entertainment to AT&T customers. As an Outside Plant Technician Apprentice, you will ensure customers have the connectivity they need to enjoy services. Responsibilities include construction work, laying telephone cable and conduits, and performing repairs and maintenance. This job requires construction work and the ability to operate heavy-duty electrical and hydraulic equipment. In addition to working outside customers’ homes to install, connect, maintain, rearrange, and/or dismantle various forms of telephone and cable wiring, you will also perform construction duties. Construction work may include digging holes, placing poles, laying cable and conduit, unreeling, and/or pulling and stringing wire and cable from pole to pole. You may also be tasked with maintaining accurate reports, records, logs, or requisitions. AT&T will provide the necessary training and resources in a supportive team environment. Additional duties may include connecting wires and cables to terminals, attaching or detaching hardware to wires, cable, buildings, or poles; climbing poles or using bucket trucks and entering tunnels, manholes, and trenches to place materials; operating light and/or heavy-duty electrical and hydraulic equipment and hand tools; operating propane or gas-powered compressors; ordering supplies, materials, interpreting blueprints and specifications, and logging extra supplies, material, and hours; and using and/or wearing appropriate safety equipment.
