About The Position

In coordination with the Program Manager, this role involves planning the day-to-day and week-to-week activities and schedules for outreach staff, providing support and guidance, coordinating all team activities, and assisting victims of crime.

Requirements

  • Must be a "credible messenger," a trusted community insider with backgrounds similar to the high-risk youth being served.
  • Must be an individual who has clearly demonstrated positive changes in their lives and turned away from crime.
  • Possess long-term knowledge of the target areas and community.
  • Be connected through schools (coaches), religion, extended family relationships, and human services connections.
  • Some experience leading a team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan day-to-day and week-to-week activities and schedules for outreach staff.
  • Provide support and guidance to outreach staff.
  • Coordinate all team activities.
  • Assist victims of crime.
  • Conduct daily staff activity meetings, discussing participants, shootings, and assessing needed interventions.
  • Conduct daily briefings/huddles to assess needed interventions, examine causes of shootings/killings or other violent incidents to assist in mediating situations and preventing retaliation, and work with the community, Outreach Programs, and local law enforcement to gain useful information in preventing additional killings.
  • Ensure staff is in their assigned zone during work hours (Zone Checks).
  • Conduct daily debriefings for reflection on the workday, feedback, and updates.
  • Monitor staff to ensure they are meeting requirements of DCJS/SNUG through daily logs, case notes, and risk assessments (Data Review).
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings with the Program Manager, including team check-ins, data review, detecting and interrupting potentially violent conflicts, identifying and treating the highest risk, mobilizing the community to change norms, and setting action items for the week.
  • Conduct weekly staff supervision, including behavior change tracking forms for Outreach Workers.
  • Attend/Participate in monthly community meetings to discuss recent situations and coordinate efforts collectively to stop the killing and change norms.
