About The Position

The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) is seeking an Outreach and Engagement Specialist to join their team. This role serves as a central point connecting immigrants and refugees to City and local resources, ensuring interactions are culturally robust and linguistically relevant. The specialist will identify and address resource gaps, staff the Immigrant and Refugee Commission by planning and facilitating meetings, collaborating on work plans, and tracking projects. This position involves building and maintaining relationships with Commission members, City departments, local non-profits, and community members, navigating political spaces with care and respect, and improving the City's engagement capabilities. Responsibilities also include leading investment planning, grant writing, compliance, and contract management.

Experience evaluating systems by identifying service gaps, analyzing data, making recommendations, and implementing improvements.
Experience building and maintaining strong collaborative partnerships within/across an organization and with external partners.
Experience facilitating a Board, Commission, or similar group toward achieving common goals and successful outcomes.
Experience managing grants, contracts, and compliance.
Experience working in a political environment.
Experience meeting tight timelines.
Experience that reflects a commitment to supporting immigrants and refugees, evaluating and building systems, leading Boards/Commissions, and listening and communicating using an equity lens.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability in current and emerging immigration and refugee community issues.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability in contract/grant administration, equity, compliance expertise.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability in systems, infrastructure evaluation, and building skills.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully within a large, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities
