About The Position

Willdan Lighting and Electric (WLE), a subsidiary of Willdan, is looking for an Outreach Coordinator in their New York, NY office. This role supports the Small Business & Nonprofit Program, which promotes the installation of energy efficiency measures. The candidate will collaborate with engineering staff, program managers, and sales teams to communicate with and educate small business and nonprofit building owners, board members, and contractors on energy efficiency measures.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in energy efficiency, sustainability, or related field, with a proven track record in sales or outreach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of energy HVAC equipment and mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, variable speed drives, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, chilled and hot water loops, and boilers.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Sound reasoning, problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, engineering, marketing or business.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency regulations, policies, and standards at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Client Retention Management (CRM) experience.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the energy efficiency program by engaging in outreach activities, including inbound prospective customer support, trade show presentations, tabling at conferences or community resource fairs, webinars, and cold calling.
  • Develop outreach plans in collaboration with program management team to target key market segments to achieve the program’s energy efficiency targets.
  • Provide tracking and reporting of relevant outreach KPIs for strategy analysis on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc basis.
  • Conduct and track outreach to customer leads delivered to Willdan via the Con Edison customer interest survey.
  • Utilize HubSpot to send marketing emails to prospective contractors and customers.
  • Attend industry events to identify and network with potential contractors and customers to participate in the program (minimum of 10 events per year).
  • Support Con Edison with marketing efforts to create or update customer and contractor-facing marketing collateral.
  • Assist small business owners by providing clear and informative guidance on energy efficiency measures.
  • Assist with customer segmentation, targeting, development and maintenance of contact lists and communication efforts.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports to track progress toward program goals.
  • Engagement in any and all areas critical to meeting program objectives.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time for program-related activities within the NYC metro area.
