About The Position

The department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Outreach Coordinator to work onsite on the UHealth campus. The Outreach Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs, and assumes responsibility for creating, planning, preparing, and executing varied programs to reach targeted populations. This Outreach Coordinator will be tasked with supporting HIV-positive people who inject drugs (PWID) who are newly diagnosed or re-engaging in care to complete a first provider visit, on-site phlebotomy, and immediate antiretroviral HIV therapy (ART) induction at the SSP fixed site and mobile locations via teleconference or face-to-face visit with an HIV provider. The Outreach Coordinator will be essential for initiating ART among PWID and will accompany clients throughout linkage-to-care and follow-up treatment appointments, ensuring that ART initiation occurs and that patients are supported with medication adherence.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Plans promotional, educational, and other events to increase community awareness.
  • Develops a network and database of community contacts, agencies and services.
  • Researches and prepares reports, records, and other documentation to coordinate and implement public and outreach programs.
  • Develops creative strategies to effectively communicate awareness of outreach programs.
  • Responds to public inquiries about program(s).
  • Trains personnel to carry out an effective public education and outreach programs.
  • Distributes educational literature.
  • Documents daily activities and the number of contacts reached or served through outreach initiatives.
  • Maintains effective lines of communications with current and prospective clients to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
  • Promotes services offered to the targeted group.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
