About The Position

Outpost Clerks stock, straighten, and clean departments and provide prompt and courteous service. This role includes performing background checks on gun sales in accordance with company guidelines and Federal/State laws and regulations and logging, inventorying, transferring, selling, and recording firearms according to company policy, federal, and state laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform background checks on gun sales in accordance with company guidelines and Federal/State laws and regulations.
  • Ability to log, inventory, transfer, sell, and record firearms according to company policy, federal, and state laws and regulations.
  • Ability to follow merchandising standards and practices.
  • Ability to align product, collect and return stray items, and stock to maintain high product levels.
  • Ability to rotate merchandise.
  • Ability to check for accurate signage.
  • Ability to hang and replace computer generated product signs.
  • Ability to use box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility of product and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallet.
  • Ability to stock opened cases on shelves.
  • Ability to use hand-held scanning gun or key item numbers when necessary.
  • Ability to transfer or ensure transfer of each item as number is scanned.
  • Ability to monitor all merchandise passing through register line, promoting accurate merchandise inventory.
  • Ability to request supervisor verification for high-ticket items.
  • Ability to assist with transferring merchandise in carts and packaging orders, following all safety and security procedures.
  • Ability to receive accurate payment for goods, make change, process checks, EBT, credit and debit charges according to proper departmental procedures for paperwork and performance of duties.
  • Ability to count register at sign on, order change, make witnessed drops of excess funds to vault, order cash increases, and count register at shift end to maintain accurate register funds.
  • Ability to perform related tasks, set-up and closing duties for department, such as putting returned or moved product back, collecting paperwork, stocking register, cleaning area, and retrieving carts.
  • Ability to move and position pallets of merchandise using manual pallet jack.
  • Ability to stack product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
  • Ability to write list of products to be brought from steel, by forklift driver, for stocking.
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to answer phones, direct customers to product, and assist customers with product information.
  • Ability to clean department by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting.
  • Ability to stock supplies, empty trash, and operate trash compactor and cardboard baler.
  • Ability to operate cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, cardboard baler, electronic order gun.
  • Ability to assist in other departments of the store as necessary.
  • Ability to perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
