Children’s Wisconsin is a nationally recognized health system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. We provide primary care, specialty care, urgent care, emergency care, community health services, foster and adoption services, child and family counseling, child advocacy services and family resource centers. This is a full-time position located at our Mequon and Cedarburg Clinics. The role involves providing direct patient care in Physical Therapy within pediatric Outpatient Clinics, identifying, diagnosing, and treating patients with a wide variety of disabilities. The position also includes participation in program planning, development, and implementation, as well as Quality Improvement initiatives. Responsibilities extend to counseling and instructing patients/families and medical professionals, monitoring patient progress, and maintaining clinical records. There may be opportunities for outreach event coverage and education/mentorship of students/residents. The position supports the mission and strategic objectives of the hospital, engages in activities that support teamwork, and enhances the image of pediatric Physical Therapy and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The role requires understanding and satisfying the needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and/or adult patient in regard to their growth and development process and physical functioning. This includes providing physical therapy treatment on a continuing basis, counseling and training parents to incorporate treatment goals into the home environment, and actively participating in care management meetings. Documentation of patient status and progress is crucial, including evaluation and re-evaluation reports, daily treatment notes, plans of care, progress notes, discharge summaries, and insurance authorizations. The role also involves maintaining up-to-date insurance authorization/approval to treat patients, collaborating with Financial Clearance, and submitting clinical requests in a timely fashion. Cost containment by maximizing the use of equipment, supplies, and time, and participating in hospital efforts to control costs and pursue third-party reimbursement are also key. Discharge planning involves making referrals and monitoring progress. This Sports Physical Therapist position is a 0.8FTE (32 hours/week) and typically involves a patient population with sports and orthopedic injuries, including post-surgical rehab, fractures, growth and overuse related injuries, trauma, spine, sports-specific rehab, and concussion. There is an opportunity for collaboration with a broader sports medicine team, including surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, and sports PTs at other regional clinics. Candidates with an interest in sports medicine rehab and potential for occasional on-field coverage are sought. A youth/adolescent sports and orthopedic background is strongly desired, with additional pediatric experience potentially including coaching, teaching, or mentoring.
