About The Position

The Lead Pharmacist serves as the clinical and operational leader for the outpatient pharmacy, supporting the Pharmacy Manager in overseeing daily pharmacy operations. This position ensures the safe, accurate, efficient, and compliant dispensing of medications while promoting exceptional patient care and customer service. The Lead Pharmacist provides leadership, mentorship, and supervision to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy student interns, fostering a collaborative learning environment and ensuring compliance with federal, state, organizational, and professional standards. This role serves as a clinical resource and role model, supporting operational excellence, medication safety, quality improvement, and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalency exam
  • Current California Pharmacist License
  • Three (3) years of experience in outpatient pharmacy
  • One (1) year if experience in a Pharmacy leadership role

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of California pharmacy law, federal pharmacy regulations, medication safety standards, and outpatient pharmacy operations
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic health records (EHR), and pharmacy dispensing software
  • Current immunization certification
  • Experience with quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and medication safety programs
