About The Position

Performs venous, capillary, and line collections, and Point of Care (POC) testing of all ages to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Acts as a subject matter expert in instructing patients with collections of various specimen types. Ensures all processes and procedures are followed according to protocol, with a focus on accurate patient identification, specimen integrity, and sample labeling. Interacts with customers in a pleasant, efficient, and cooperative manner in a fast-paced environment. Works cooperatively with peers, providing and receiving constructive feedback. Responsible for training, educating, and mentoring new and existing staff, as well as troubleshooting and resolving problems. Must be able to prioritize work, accommodate scheduling adjustments, and possess good decision-making skills. Maintains a professional image at all times. Participates in special projects as assigned by the management team and serves as a resource to others. May be required to attend the Mayo Clinic phlebotomy training program. Individuals hired for this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and it does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a phlebotomy training program that provides clinical rotation OR 3 months of phlebotomy work experience required.
  • Resume must be included for application to be considered.
  • Foreign trained lab personnel must provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
  • DLMP employees in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor.
  • Non-DLMP internal applicants in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from the supervisor.
