About The Position

The Tech - MLT position involves performing waived and non-waived complexity analysis of patient specimens for diagnostic purposes and related procedures within the Department of Clinical Laboratory Services. This role operates under the established philosophy, policies, and procedures of the hospital and department, integrating the Department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System and supporting an organizational culture for Service Excellence.

Requirements

Technicians newly certified as of 2004, are required to participate in a Certification Maintenance Program to continue certification every 3 years.
Mathematical, computer, reasoning and language skills at the college level required.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science preferred.
One year experience preferred.
ASCP, AMT, and/or NCA preferred or eligible

Responsibilities

Practices the profession of clinical laboratory science in the area(s) of assigned responsibility according to accepted standards of practice as outlined by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), CLIA ’88, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and other regulatory agencies as appropriate, and according to the approved policies and procedures of the organization, department, and/or the laboratory Medical Director.
Actively participates in the structure, review and revision of policies and procedures.
Monitors quality control data and instrument maintenance.
Participate in maintenance and safety programs.
Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and performance improvement in areas of assign responsibility.
