About The Position

The Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant supports patient care and treatment under the direction of an RN or physician. The role is part of the Float Pool and provides the opportunity to support diverse patient populations across departments, units, and locations, while developing experience in multiple healthcare specialties. The position supports personal growth through ongoing formal and informal education. This is a regular PRN position with day schedules of 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Caregivers must be available at least two weekdays per week for a minimum of eight hours per shift, work the day before or after a holiday, and work at least one Monday or Friday per month. Travel may be required to Weston, CSP, Parkland, Palm Beach, or Wellington; tolls and mileage are reimbursed.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Understanding of human anatomy, basic patient care activities, and math.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross upon hire or within the new-hire period.
One year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital, ambulatory, homecare, assisted living, nursing home, or long-term care setting; additional formal training or education may substitute for some or all of the required experience.
Availability at least two weekdays per week for a minimum of eight hours per shift.
Work the day before or after a holiday and at least one Monday or Friday per month.
Travel to Weston, CSP, Parkland, Palm Beach, or Wellington as required.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency using an electronic medical record.

Currently pursuing education or training in the medical field.
EPIC experience.

Responsibilities

Obtain vital signs, height, and weight as directed.
Collect patient specimens and prepare them for transport to laboratories.
Prepare patients for exams, tests, and special procedures, and assist with exams and treatments as applicable.
Complete the rooming process, including reviewing medications, updating allergies, identifying pain levels, and asking regulatory screening questions.
Identify, document, and report changes to an RN and/or MD.
Assist with indirect patient care.
Perform directed patient treatments, including applying heat or cold, simple sterile dressing changes, and measuring, applying, changing, and removing casts, braces, and splints.
Repair casts and apply durable medical equipment (DME), and instruct patients in its use.
Remove dressings, sutures, and staples.
Stock supplies and linens as applicable.
Clean and restock dressing supply carts, check emergency carts, and empty needle boxes using appropriate safety measures.
Assist with regulatory and safety monitoring and compliance audits as directed.
Initiate CPR and other emergency measures as required.
Perform assigned administrative or clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
