About The Position

The Clinical Assistant is a member of the staff who coordinates aspects of patient care by managing communication and clerical tasks essential to the functioning of the department. The role also monitors and stocks supplies and provides patient care and related functions as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse or designee. The position is part-time, based at Royal Oak Hospital, with variable day hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on variable weekdays, Monday through Friday. The schedule is 20 hours per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience is listed as preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 180 days, or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience.
• Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs (LARA-BCHS) Nursing Assistant certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care assignments as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse or designee.
• Manage clerical tasks and supplies or equipment in designated care areas.
• Provide care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy.
• Document in the electronic medical record.
• Act as a receptionist and organize daily work assignments based on unit priorities.
• Monitor and stock supplies.
