About The Position

The Outlet Assistant Store Manager partners with the Aftermarket Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate the daily operations of their assigned HOT Goodwill outlet store. This role helps team members understand performance goals and coaches them to achieve those goals, fostering an environment where people can contribute meaningfully to the community served by HOT Goodwill’s mission. In the Aftermarket Manager’s absence, the Outlet Assistant Store Manager assumes full responsibility for all outlet operations and serves as the primary leader on site. Assistant Store Manager levels (ASM I–V) are determined by the volume, staffing, and operational complexity of the assigned store. The assigned level reflects the scale and complexity of the store environment and aligns with established pay bands within the HRIS system. It does not represent differences in core job duties or decision-making authority.

Requirements

  • A criminal background check is required; consideration will be given to applicants with criminal histories in accordance with applicable law.
  • Must be willing to accept instructions and carry them out with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
  • Must be able to identify potential problem areas and implement procedures to reduce their impact on store operations and HOT Goodwill.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in retail and production, including supervisory or team lead responsibilities; experience coaching team members to achieve performance goals.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain; ability to operate baling machine, tipper, pallet jack, and related equipment.
  • Ability to assist with aftermarket reports, cash handling, and financial transaction accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures continuous flow of merchandise from production staging areas to the outlet sales floor.
  • Maintains required table turn standards to ensure consistent movement of goods and revenue performance.
  • Oversees outlet floor readiness including stocking, rotation, organization, and merchandise availability.
  • Coordinates with production leadership to align output with floor demand and prevent workflow bottlenecks.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards across all outlet areas.
  • Protects company assets including donated goods, equipment, and facility property; reports loss, damage, theft, fraud, waste, or misuse immediately.
  • Supports control of operational expenses in alignment with revenue and budget expectations.
  • Partners with the Aftermarket Manager to maintain appropriate staffing across production, outlet floor, and front-end operations.
  • Supports hiring, onboarding, training, and cross-training across production, retail floor, and cashier teams.
  • Provides coaching, feedback, and performance correction to maintain accountability and productivity.
  • Promotes a professional, mission-driven work culture aligned with HOT Goodwill values.
  • Works flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and operational peak hours.
  • Works closely with production leadership to ensure consistent flow of wares, textiles, and post-retail to the outlet floor.
  • Supports balancing production output with retail demand to maintain continuous table turns.
  • Monitors efficiency of staging, sorting, and transfer processes from production to sales floor.
  • Identifies and escalates workflow disruptions affecting outlet or front-end performance.
  • Ensures strong customer experience across the outlet floor and front-end operations.
  • Maintains active presence on the sales floor and front end to support staff and customer needs.
  • Communicates effectively with employees, leadership, and customers to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Resolves customer issues with professionalism, urgency, and service-focused execution.
  • Ensures proper cash controls and adherence to financial procedures at the front end.
  • Maintains accurate and timely completion of operational reports, logs, and documentation.
  • Supports enforcement of safety standards, company policies, and operational procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the needs of the store and HOT Goodwill’s organizational goals.
  • Directly supervises outlet staff in partnership with the Aftermarket Manager and assumes full supervisory authority for all outlet operations in the Aftermarket Manager’s absence.
