About The Position

The Outdoor Environmental Education Program Coordinator supports the YMCA of Greater Seattle’s seasonal residential camp programs for school groups and weekend family camps. Coordinators coach and supervise seasonal staff, work with participating groups, manage daily camp operations, and help resolve challenging situations. The role is supervised by Senior Program Directors and includes serving as a Program Instructor when needed. It is an authorized-driver position using an employer-provided vehicle, and staff must live onsite at camp when the schedule requires. The position is full-time and seasonal. The usual camp work week is five days on and two days off, including training, staff meetings, and regular duties. Staff generally live in shared cabins or staff housing for the duration of employment, depending on the position and availability. The role operates indoors and outdoors at a residential camp and may involve local travel during shifts and some out-of-area travel. The YMCA describes its work as committed to equity and to removing institutional and systemic barriers related to oppression and racism. Employees are expected to follow abuse-prevention policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, complete required training, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and comply with mandated reporting requirements. The coordinator is also responsible for ensuring staff are screened, trained, supervised, and held accountable to the organization’s abuse-risk-management standards. The stated daily hiring rate is $115, increasing to $123 for a second season in the same or equivalent job, $131 for a third season, and $139 for four or more seasons.
