About The Position

Wonder Valley Outdoor Education Center is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and compassionate educators to join our team as Outdoor Education (OE) Instructors! As an OE Instructor, you’ll bring learning to life through hands-on, outdoor-based instruction that blends science, adventure, and leadership development. You’ll teach science-based topics using Wonder Valley’s established curriculum, foster leadership, teamwork, and confidence in students through interactive and experiential learning, and collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure smooth daily operations. You will also serve as a role model, ensuring student safety and inclusivity throughout all activities, and occasionally lead outdoor adventures such as canoeing, archery, ropes courses, and nature walks.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for working with youth.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to be active outdoors for extended periods and participate in physical activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or background in education, environmental science, recreation, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working with youth in outdoor or experiential learning environments.
  • Experience with science based topics (Geology, Water cycle, Aerodynamics, etc.).
  • Familiarity with NGSS and California State Standards for grades 4–8.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain before start date).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure smooth daily operations, from class setup to student orientation.
  • Serve as a role model, ensuring student safety and inclusivity throughout all activities.
  • Occasionally lead outdoor adventures such as canoeing, archery, ropes courses, and nature walks.
