Requirements

  • 21+ years old
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Associate degree OR 3+ years of combined education, training, and experience in a nonprofit organization involved in youth development or secondary education
  • 1+ year of supervised work experience or one practicum OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with youth aged 5 - 18
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to comply with company policy regarding background checks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative thinker full of fresh ideas
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
  • Highly observant and detail-oriented
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Great time management and task delegation skills

Responsibilities

  • Effectively plan and execute daily youth programs.
  • Coordinate programs to ensure the best possible environment for members.
  • Plan and implement positive activities that promote development in areas such as the arts, technology, physical education, and social recreation.
  • Coordinate fun activities such as monthly birthday celebrations and Fun Fact Fridays.
  • Implement national club programs.
  • Strategically assign staff members to lead programs according to their interests and skills.
  • Provide additional training to staff when necessary.
  • Assist with the interviewing and hiring process as needed.
  • Ensure staff has the proper licenses.
  • Observe program activities to ensure they go smoothly.
  • Step in to assist with program or disruptive child situations.
  • Conduct regular staff checks to ensure performance metrics are met and attendance records are maintained.
  • Measure program success by comparing outcomes to target goals and use this information to improve future activities.
  • Ensure the safety of members and staff by being on the lookout for potential hazards or dangerous situations.
  • Ensure every employee follows safety policies and guidelines, intervening if a problem is noticed.
  • Attend regular training to keep knowledge fresh and be the best resource for members.
