About The Position

This is an unpaid Level I occupational therapy internship available only to students currently enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy program affiliated with Sheppard Pratt or Mosaic Community Services. Students work under the supervision of an occupational therapist or program coordinator and complete fieldwork assignments while developing clinical and professional skills and entry-level competence.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy program affiliated with Sheppard Pratt or Mosaic Community Services.
• Occupational therapy student completing Level I fieldwork.
• Work under the supervision of an occupational therapist or program coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and lead effective occupational therapy groups at the PRP and in the community.
• Complete occupational therapy screenings and assessments and assist with interpreting findings.
• Plan and complete academic assignments for Level I fieldwork, informing the supervisor about needs, plans, and progress.
• Develop increasing competence in the occupational therapy process, including chart review, use of screening tools, interviews, other assessment tools, and synthesis of information to develop occupational therapy plans based on recovery themes, occupational therapy theory, and evidence-based practice.
• Document occupational therapy groups, one-to-one occupational therapy, integrated health, and other reports as requested.
• Collaborate with clients, students, and staff to plan one-to-one interventions, groups, and program activities, and to engage clients and orient them to the role of occupational therapy.
• Provide safe and ethical services, follow agency policies and procedures and the occupational therapy code of ethics, and use sound judgment.
• Collaborate with the supervisor to develop clinical and professional skills and entry-level competency by the end of fieldwork.
• Manage time, work areas, and costs effectively and efficiently to complete daily duties competently and safely.
