The Orthotics Technician is a trained member of the orthopaedic team who works with all health care professionals in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities concerning all surgical and non-surgical procedures. This role involves excellence in customer service, proficiency in insurance verification/authorization, and maintenance of patient records. Organizational skills are required to maintain schedules, return phone calls, and manage stock inventory. The technician will greet patients, prepare them for procedures, provide education, conduct clinical interviews, and assess needs based on physician prescriptions. They will also fabricate orthotic devices, apply/remove casts/splints, fit and adjust devices for patient comfort and function, handle billing and patient financial responsibility information, triage patients by telephone, and maintain the cast room inventory. The role also emphasizes exemplifying the organization's culture and philosophies.
