Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy required.
  • 5 years of surgical experience preferred
  • NY State Medical License required.
  • Board Certified/Eligible: Orthopedic Surgery required.
  • BLS & ATLS certification required.
  • Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required.
  • Current Infectious Certificate required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • PALS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing orthopedic coverage consistent with the standards of care of Garnet Health Medical Center.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of, the clinical management of, the favorable impact on quality of care of, and overseeing the total care of, the Orthopedic Trauma patient.
  • Using a variety of skills to educate, consult and manage the orthopedic patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team and other physicians and providers.
  • Working collaboratively with the health care team including orthopedic nurse practitioners, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the orthopedic patient care, nurses, case management, physical and occupational therapy and with departments affecting the care of the Orthopedic Trauma patient.
  • Acting as a clinical educator working with staff on orthopedic competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills.
  • Working with the care team to implement necessary medical aspects of care including discharges and pain management.
  • Affecting a quality patient experience.
