About The Position

Seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon for locum tenens coverage in Hancock, MI. This is a call-only position for inpatient and outpatient services, covering the period from November 27 to December 23, 2026. The role involves 24-hour beeper call with a 20-minute response time, providing supplemental coverage for a Level III Trauma Facility. Responsibilities include surgical consultations and procedures for fractures, sports injuries, general orthopedics, and total joint replacements, as well as managing inpatient and outpatient care, rounding, and admissions. Collaboration with General Surgeons and Orthopaedic PAs is essential for comprehensive patient care.

Requirements

Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE)
Licensed in MI or IMLC
Required DEA (Michigan)
Hospital Privileges Required
Arthroscopy
Total Joint replacement (Hip, Knee, Other)
Joint revision or repair (Shoulder, Hip, Knee)

Responsibilities

Provide orthopedic coverage for Emergency Department call on a rotating basis in a Level III Trauma Facility
Perform surgical consultations and procedures for fractures, sports injuries, general orthopaedic cases, and total joint replacements
Manage inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic care, including rounding and admissions
Collaborate with General Surgeons and Orthopaedic PAs to ensure comprehensive patient care
Participate in 24-hour call coverage, responding to ED consults as needed
