The RN Clinician (SS) is an experienced healthcare professional who provides patient care for a specific population. Using clinical knowledge, research, and experience, the RN adapts to changing situations and personalizes care based on the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. The RN serves as a resource for colleagues and advocates for patients and families. The role delivers independent nursing care, assesses patients, develops and adjusts care plans with patient and family input, documents care, identifies learning needs, and individualizes care to recognize cultural differences. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, delegates appropriately, may take on Charge Nurse responsibilities when assigned, helps orient staff and students when a designated preceptor is absent, and uses communication and conflict-resolution skills. The RN also contributes to quality improvement and professional development by identifying potential policy revisions based on evidence, applying the Synergy Model in practice, collecting and analyzing data, participating in improvement activities, and maintaining required points and contact hours through the clinical lattice PLAN system.
