About The Position

Advanced Dental Care of Shady Road is seeking an Orthodontic Assistant in Ocala, Florida, to support its clinical team and provide a high level of patient care and satisfaction in a team-based environment. The assistant supports the office and professional dental staff during treatment, contributing to the practice’s mission of providing excellent community dental care and creating positive patient experiences. Candidates must have prior dental assisting experience. The role includes preparing treatment rooms, assisting dentists during procedures, supporting patient education and comfort, taking X-rays, assisting with impressions, maintaining study models and records, and following infection-control, confidentiality, and workplace safety requirements. The assistant also helps the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies.

Requirements

Prior dental assisting experience.
Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program or six months of on-the-job experience with supporting documentation.
X-ray certification.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection-control training as required by law.

Nice To Haves

Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
Welcome, comfort, and educate patients about oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
Follow infection-control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with workplace regulations.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake when needed.
Help the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and an emergency telephone directory.
