Ortho RN
About The Position
The Ortho RN works on the 22-bed Orthopedics Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital, caring for orthopedic patients, including those recovering from surgery. The unit provides orthopedic procedures and is Joint Commission Certified in total hip and total knee replacements. The nurse helps patients and families through post-operative care by anticipating needs, observing patients closely, listening carefully, and communicating with the surgical and nursing teams. The role includes helping patients feel safe and comfortable after surgery, ensuring new patients have medication to manage post-operative pain, and explaining hospital care and home care to patients and families. The position offers up to a $13,500 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 in educational assistance to eligible new hires.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active RN license in Nebraska or a nurse license compact.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Provide orthopedic post-operative care to patients.
- Anticipate patient needs, observe patients closely, and listen carefully to build trust with patients and families.
- Communicate patient details with the surgical and nursing teams.
- Address patients’ emotional and informational needs.
- Comfort patients who feel nervous or confused after surgery and help them feel safe and relaxed.
- Welcome new patients and ensure they have medication needed to manage post-operative pain.
- Inform patients and families about care during their hospital stay and care at home.
- Work with a nursing team focused on patient well-being.
