About The Position

The Office of Unemployment Insurance Division (OUIA) is seeking an ORS Specialist 1/2/3/4 to conduct audits of unemployment insurance claims to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and agency policies. OUIA oversees Louisiana’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) program, which provides temporary financial assistance to eligible workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. The office manages the full UI lifecycle, including employer tax collection, benefit claims processing, fraud prevention, and appeals. This role involves reviewing records, interviewing claimants and employers, analyzing evidence, identifying discrepancies or errors, and initiating appropriate corrective action.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers’ compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor’s degree.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts audits of paid and denied unemployment insurance claims for accuracy and compliance.
  • Reviews claimant, employer, and agency records to verify wages, employment, separation, and eligibility information.
  • Interviews claimants and employers to gather and verify information.
  • Analyzes evidence, identifies errors, and initiates appropriate corrective action.
  • Documents audit findings and prepares required state and federal reports.
