About The Position

The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Assessment has a vacancy. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare. Protect Louisiana’s public water sources and put your skills to work across the state using GIS and ground water sampling. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a geoscience field or geological engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GIS
  • Experience with ground water sampling

Responsibilities

  • Take samples from water wells as part of DEQ’s Aquifer Sampling and Assessment Program.
  • GPS public water wells/intakes and potential sources of contamination around them as part of DEQ’s Source Water Protection Program.
  • Work with the public as needed to protect public water sources.
  • Assist as needed with any other issues concerning protection of public water sources and ground water that may come up.
