About The Position

Description Regions is seeking an interpreter fluent in Oromo/Amharic to assist our patients in our hospital and clinics. This position will be part time, Monday-Friday, picking up shifts when available. The interpreter will be responsible for facilitating daily cross-cultural communication between patients, family members and others, along with medical providers and staff. The interpreter will serve as a cultural and language resource person. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Fluent in Oromo/Amharic.
• 40 hours of interpreter training required or within 6 months of hire for languages of lesser diffusion.
• Annual completion of department-required continuing education.
• Active Status on the Minnesota Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster.

Nice To Haves

• 40 hours of interpreter training completed prior to hire.
• Some general college preferred, especially programs that focus on interpreting and translation skills.
• Two years interpreting experience including one year medical interpreting experience.
