About The Position
Regions is seeking an interpreter fluent in Oromo/Amharic to assist patients in our hospital and clinics. This is a part-time position, working Monday-Friday, picking up shifts as available. The interpreter will be responsible for facilitating daily cross-cultural communication between patients, family members, and others, along with medical providers and staff. The interpreter will also serve as a cultural and language resource person and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 40 hours of interpreter training required or within 6 months of hire for languages of lesser diffusion
- Annual completion of department-required continuing education
- Active Status on the Minnesota Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster
Nice To Haves
- 40 hours of interpreter training completed prior to hire preferred.
- Some general college preferred, especially programs that focus on interpreting and translation skills
- Two years interpreting experience including one year medical interpreting experience preferred
