Responsible for developing market opportunities, managing customer and counterparty relationships, supporting the origination pipeline, and coordinating commercial negotiations for energy, capacity, RECs, structured offtake, and other commercial products, converting market opportunities into executable commercial transactions. This role will work closely with Trading, Commercial and Operations, Analysis and Structuring, Legal, and other internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in power origination, power marketing, energy commercial development, structured products, or related energy market roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate, evaluate, structure, and negotiate commercial energy transactions.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale power markets, renewable energy, capacity, RECs, energy hedging, and structured offtake products.
  • Experience negotiating PPAs, hedges, structured products, or similar commercial agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, quantify, and clearly communicate deal risk.
  • Strong customer-facing and counterparty relationship management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across Legal, Analytics, Trading, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Business Development, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Ability to assess market trends and translate them into actionable commercial strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Strong communication, presentation, organization, and project management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of battery storage, co-location, congestion risk, REC markets, and C&I structures is a plus.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead origination activity for Acciona Energia in the US and Canada markets, including opportunity identification, customer engagement, and commercial opportunity development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale energy market participants, C&I customers, consultants, counterparties, and other external market stakeholders.
  • Act as the main commercial point of contact for PPA counterparties, coordinating internally with Operations, Legal, Risk, Trading, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage and expand the origination pipeline, including tracking opportunities, prioritizing commercial pursuits, and coordinating internal support.
  • Identify physical and financial offtake opportunities, including energy, capacity, RECs, hedge products, structured products, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Identify non-traditional offtake opportunities, behind-the-meter structures, co-location opportunities, and other commercial solutions that may reduce risk or improve asset value.
  • Lead and coordinate tender, RFP, and bilateral commercial processes, including calendar monitoring, bid preparation, internal approvals, coordination, and submission.
  • Coordinate contract negotiation and commercial review with Legal and other relevant teams.
  • Negotiate offtake agreements, hedge agreements, commercial terms, and related transaction documentation with counterparties.
  • Assess and respond to market trends, customer demand, policy changes, and competitive activity by recommending commercial strategies to senior management.
  • Support market intelligence efforts related to transaction pricing references, trends, comparable terms, and market conditions.
  • Coordinate with the Analytics and Structuring team on pricing, valuation, structuring support, market analysis, risk assessment, and transaction approval materials.
  • Coordinate with Trading & Asset Management to ensure proposed commercial transactions are executable and aligned with asset optimization strategy.
  • Support CRM ownership, maintenance, and reporting to ensure accurate tracking of customer relationships, opportunities, and commercial activity.
  • Manage tender consultant subscriptions and external information sources relevant to origination and market development.
  • Provide internal updates on origination activity, market-facing opportunities, pipeline development, and commercial priorities.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives related to new products, commercial strategy, market entry, and portfolio optimization.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
