About The Position

Tri-City Group is seeking an Organizational Safety Training Specialist to design, coordinate, and deliver safety training across all Tri-City Group operating companies in Davenport, IA. This role ensures our workforce is trained, current, and confident in the skills that keep them safe — from OSHA-required courses and task-specific field training to specialized programs like MSHA and DOT-related vehicle and equipment safety. The ideal candidate is an engaging presenter who is equally comfortable leading a classroom session, running a hands-on field demonstration, and welcoming new hires into the Tri-City Group family on day one. This is a highly visible, cross-company role that partners closely with the Director of Safety & Training, the DOT Compliance Coordinator, the Talent Development Administrator, and operating company leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality safety training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering safety training, ideally within construction, utility, electrical, or industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA general industry and/or construction standards.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences ranging from new hires to experienced field crews.
  • Comfortable traveling regularly during the day to operating company locations and job sites; occasional overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage training schedules, records, and compliance documentation across multiple companies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or partnering with DOT compliance or fleet safety functions.
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer certification (10-Hour/30-Hour)
  • Experience developing leadership or foreman-level training content.
  • Familiarity with human and organizational performance (HOP) principles or the SIF model.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and deliver OSHA-required training (e.g., fall protection, PPE, electrical safety, confined space, and other general and construction industry standards) to employees across all Tri-City Group operating companies.
  • Develop and deliver task-specific safety training tailored to the work being performed by each operating company and division.
  • Design and deliver additional training as needs arise, staying responsive to emerging hazards, incident trends, and operational changes.
  • Maintain accurate training records and certifications to support compliance and audit readiness.
  • Serve as the company coordinator for MSHA training, ensuring applicable sites and personnel meet all required initial and annual refresher training. Coordinate with third-party trainers.
  • Track MSHA training compliance across operating companies and maintain documentation required for regulatory inspections.
  • Stay current on MSHA regulatory updates and respond accordingly.
  • Partner with the DOT Compliance Coordinator to develop and deliver vehicle and equipment safety training, including defensive driving, pre-trip inspections, and safe equipment operation.
  • Support DOT compliance initiatives by reinforcing safety expectations for commercial motor vehicle operators and equipment operators in training sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Development Administrator to build and deliver the safety component of the foreman development program.
  • Equip foremen with the tools to lead safety on their crews — including job briefings, hazard recognition, and coaching techniques — as part of their broader leadership development.
  • Provide ongoing safety mentorship and follow-up support to foremen as they grow into their leadership role.
  • Lead the safety portion of new hire orientation for all incoming employees, setting the tone for Tri-City Group's safety culture from day one.
  • Ensure new hires leave orientation with a clear understanding of safety expectations, reporting procedures, and available resources.
  • Assist Tri-City Business Solutions in providing safety training support to outside/external customers as requested.
  • Represent Tri-City Group professionally when delivering training to external audiences, reinforcing the company's safety reputation and brand.
