About The Position

This course deals with the fundamentals of organic chemistry. The topics considered include carbon compounds and chemical bonds, introduction to functional groups, acids and bases in organic chemistry, nomenclature in organic chemistry, stereochemistry of carbon compounds, ionic reactions: nucleophilic substitutions and elimination, radical reactions, reactions and synthesis of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline
  • CV
  • Candidate Application Form (CAF)

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline
  • Master’s Degree plus PhD in progress in these disciplines along with a Laurier University Teaching Certificate (or equivalent recognized teaching credential) and experience in the posted or substantially similar course
  • Masters Degree plus M.Ed. and experience in the posted or substantially similar course

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for both the lecture and laboratory portion of the course.
