About The Position

Tennessee Donor Services (TDS) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Organ Recovery Coordinator to join their team in the Tri-Cities area. This role is crucial in facilitating organ donation to save lives. The Organ Recovery Coordinator, utilizing their nursing background, oversees the procurement of organs, assesses organ compatibility for recipients, and manages the surgical and technical processes for timely and safe organ transfer for transplant. This position offers a higher level of autonomy for critical care nurses to provide a lifeline to those awaiting transplants. Tennessee Donor Services is a designated organ procurement organization (OPO) and a member of the DCI Donor Services family, which has been a leader in working to end the transplant waiting list for over four decades. DCI Donor Services operates across California, New Mexico, and Tennessee, maximizing the gift of life through organ procurement, tissue recovery, and eye banking. Their mission is to save lives and to be successful in serving donor families and recipients, by mobilizing people and technology to extend the reach of each donor's gift.

Requirements

• Two plus years prior experience in a critical care setting.
• Ability to exercise independent judgement and multitask.
• Exceptional teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills.
• Registered Nursing (RN) License
• Valid Driver’s License with the ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements
• The ability to creatively approach marketing and outreach.
• Must have their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by their potential start date or be able to supply proof of vaccination.
• Must be able to obtain Hospital Badge and EMR Access from all of the DCI Donor Services Hospital partners.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient suitability for organ donation by reviewing medical records and consultation with medical staff.
• Coordinates organ placement and allocation with transplant programs and surgeons.
• Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery of organs and peri-operative management – including logistics such as arranging transportation, ensuring surgical packaging, and preparing lab specimens for shipment.
• Provides support to donor families and conducts medical/social history interviews.
• Updates donor information into electronic medical record.
• Other duties as assigned.
