Coordinates the allocation of organs from deceased donors via the national organ allocation system; assists in the machine perfusion of deceased donor kidneys. This role involves participating in a 12-hour on-call rotation to coordinate organ allocation and assist in the hypothermic machine perfusion of deceased donor kidneys. The coordinator communicates with transplant centers to allocate organs in accordance with OPTN/UNOS policy and documents all allocation efforts. They are responsible for disseminating donor information and organ offer notifications using DonorNet and documenting required clinical information to relevant staff. Additionally, the role includes assisting the Perfusion Coordinator with non-sterile tasks in the Perfusion Lab, participating in quality assurance initiatives, meetings, and training, and potentially training new staff.
