About The Position

The Patient Support Orderly assists nursing and testing units and other hospital areas with patient-related activities. Duties include transporting patients, patient belongings, and clinical equipment; lifting and boosting patients; setting up traction; and performing other direct-care activities as trained. These activities may include ECGs, Code Blue, Code 8, other emergencies, and post-mortem care and transport. The orderly ensures equipment needed by nursing units is properly assembled, cleaned, maintained, and delivered.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must attend and complete MOAB training within the first 6 months from hire date.

Nice To Haves

• CPR and AED training/certification and/or previous patient care experience preferred. CPR/AED training will be scheduled within the first 60 days from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing and testing units and other hospital areas with patient-related activities.
• Transport patients, patient items, and clinical equipment.
• Lift and boost patients and set up traction.
• Perform trained direct-care activities, including ECGs, responding to Code Blue, Code 8, and other emergencies, and providing post-mortem care and transport.
• Ensure equipment needed by nursing units is assembled, cleaned, maintained, and delivered.
