About The Position
Simpson General Hospital is seeking a dependable and compassionate Orderly to join its Acute Care team. The role supports patient care through patient transportation, safe patient handling, admissions and discharges, equipment management, and unit support activities. The Orderly works closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to help ensure patients receive safe, efficient, and quality care. This opportunity may suit someone interested in healthcare who enjoys staying active, helping others, and working as part of a team.
Requirements
- Current BLS certification, or ability to obtain it within the approved timeframe.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to safely lift, push, and pull, and transport patients and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED is strongly preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients throughout the hospital for testing, procedures, admissions, transfers, and discharge.
- Assist nursing staff with patient lifting, transfers, ambulation, and positioning.
- Obtain and record vital signs as assigned.
- Respond to call lights and assist with routine patient needs.
- Deliver and retrieve supplies, equipment, and patient care items.
- Prepare patient rooms for admissions and transfers.
- Stock supplies and maintain organized patient care areas.
- Assist with admission and discharge activities.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient care environment.
- Support the nursing team with daily operational tasks.
