About The Position

Hardwood Industries, Inc. is a family-owned wholesaler and distributor of premium hardwood lumber and related building products. Our warehouse and order processing teams play a critical role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting our production and shipping operations. The Order Processor is responsible for accurately pulling, staging, and preparing customer orders for shipment in a continuous improvement–focused warehouse environment. Employees in this role are encouraged to improve safety, organization, efficiency, and inventory accuracy while supporting production, shipping, and logistics operations. This position involves forklift operation, material handling, inventory tracking, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Requirements

  • Forklift experience preferred or ability to become certified
  • Ability to learn warehouse systems and inventory software
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide; calculate linear, board, and square footage)
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate job-related information in English
  • Ability to use computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office and Epicor
  • Strong attention to detail and organization

Responsibilities

  • Pull and stage customer orders accurately using SKU and location systems
  • Assemble customer orders utilizing prescribed banding and packaging methods
  • Stage materials so production and shipping teams can efficiently process orders
  • Stage sheet goods and lumber in uniform, organized configurations for shipping
  • Verify accuracy of picked orders and report shortages or discrepancies
  • Safely operate forklifts to move, load, and unload materials
  • Unload flatbed trucks and containers
  • Load common carrier freight throughout the day
  • Exercise care with all equipment to prevent damage and downtime
  • Identify all inventory (lumber and/or sheet goods) by SKU
  • Map and adjust inventory within the POS/MRP system (Epicor)
  • Restock materials in designated locations, maintaining good organization
  • Protect inventory from damage, loss, or mishandling
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area free of debris
  • Leave workspaces in a condition ready for the next shift
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Demonstrate care and concern for coworkers and shared workspaces
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse, production, and shipping teams
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to organization, flow, and accuracy
  • Perform other duties as assigned
