About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking an Order Processing Donor Specialist to join their team. This role involves receiving, processing, packing, and shipping blood products/samples for hospital orders. The specialist will triage orders based on urgency, carefully pack life-saving blood products with appropriate temperature regulation, and communicate with clients, volunteers, and vendors. Maintaining product records for traceability is also a key aspect of the role. Team members are expected to show up for every shift and give their best, interacting positively and compassionately with both internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good computer skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Accurate documentation
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Position may require a valid driver’s license
  • Requires standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods.
  • Lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds.
  • May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time.
  • May be required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, face shields, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience in a regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, processing, packing, and shipping blood products/samples for hospital orders.
  • Triaging orders based on date and time needed.
  • Selecting and carefully packing life-saving blood products with the correct temperature regulating product to ensure safe transport.
  • Communicating with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Maintaining product records to preserve traceability.
  • Ensuring products/samples are suitable for release for distribution, while meeting production goals.
  • Performing good inventory management practices throughout the manufacturing and shipping process.
  • Prioritizing workload to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Performing data entry associated with further manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintaining and reviewing accurate physical and electronic manufacturing records.
  • Analyzing and making decisions based on visual inspection and information provided from other departments to meet time requirements and quality standards.
  • Identifying and quarantining products/samples that don’t meet quality requirements, and performing disposition of unacceptable product.
  • May make hospital deliveries as assigned.
