Requirements

• Novice welder with the capability of operating TIG ; MIG; and Oxy Acetylene welding equipment.
• Moderate capability for reading and understanding engineering drawings.
• Moderate capability for using measuring equipment (tape measure, framing square, straight edge).
• Moderate capability for using shop measuring equipment, engineering drawings and cutting equipment to cut stock (tubing, angle iron, channel iron, flat bar, etc.) for simple welded miscellaneous assemblies and frame assemblies.
• Moderate capability for fabricating simple miscellaneous welded assemblies.
• Functional knowledge: Applies basic analytical skills or scientific methods or operational processes to perform straightforward activities.
• Business Expertise: Understands how the assigned duties relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with others.
• Leadership: Has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Problem Solving: Uses standard operating procedures or scientific methods to guide own work and solve standard problems.
• Impact: Impacts own work.
• Interpersonal Skills: Uses communication skills to exchange information.
• This position requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to welding helmets, hand shields, goggles, respirators, fire/flame resistant clothing and aprons, and gloves.
• Additional PPE will be required for positions involving work in a clean room environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate TIG, MIG, and Oxy Acetylene welding equipment.
• Operate common shop tools such as grinders, sanders, and hydraulic straightening equipment.
• Read and understand engineering drawings.
• Use measuring equipment (tape measure, framing square, straight edge).
• Use shop measuring equipment, engineering drawings, and cutting equipment to cut stock (tubing, angle iron, channel iron, flat bar, etc.) for simple welded miscellaneous assemblies and frame assemblies.
• Fabricate simple miscellaneous welded assemblies.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent loss.
• Conform to departmental safety requirements.
