About The Position

Optum Technology is hiring an Oracle Exadata DBA to lead the architecture, design, and operational management of mission-critical Oracle and Snowflake data warehouses across development, test, UAT, production, and training environments in New York and Virginia. The position focuses on optimizing compute, memory, and storage for high-demand systems and building AI-powered solutions, Copilot automations, and intelligent runbooks using Python, Bash, and Azure OpenAI. The role supports large-scale healthcare and public sector analytics and emphasizes resilient, high-performance data systems and infrastructure automation. The role is described as remote from anywhere within the U.S. However, hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area must work in the office at least four days per week. Remote employees must follow UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

Requirements

At least 8 years of database engineering or administration experience managing large-scale enterprise Oracle database environments.
At least 5 years of experience architecting, managing, and tuning Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Data Guard.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting Oracle Exadata or Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) engineered systems.
At least 3 years of experience writing and maintaining infrastructure automations using Python and Bash.
At least 2 years of experience designing, developing, or deploying AI-powered solutions, Azure OpenAI services, Copilot automations, or machine learning tools in production or operational workflows.
At least 2 years of experience conducting database performance tuning, resource optimization across compute, memory, and storage, and diagnostics across development, test, UAT, and production environments.
Demonstrated onshore availability within the United States to meet contractual requirements.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience designing, managing, or optimizing Snowflake cloud data warehouse environments.
Experience supporting Informatica Master Data Management (MDM) platforms and data integration pipelines.
Experience configuring and optimizing SAN/NAS storage, enterprise networking, and database infrastructure monitoring tools.
Oracle Certified Master (OCM), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), or Snowflake SnowPro Core certification.
Experience supporting public sector, state government, or healthcare analytics data systems.

Architect, configure, and maintain Oracle Exadata, Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), Oracle RAC, and Data Guard environments to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data resilience.
Optimize database compute, memory, and storage configurations; conduct advanced query tuning, workload profiling, and system performance tuning.
Build and deploy automated operational workflows, diagnostic tools, and self-healing runbooks using Python, Bash, Azure OpenAI, and modern AI/ML frameworks.
Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, networking, and storage teams to integrate Informatica MDM pipelines and enterprise monitoring solutions.
