About The Position

The OR Assistant supports the operating room by maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients and surgical department personnel through environmental sanitation and housekeeping. Under the guidance of a registered nurse, the role assists with safe patient handling, movement, and transfers. The assistant also helps operating room staff by stocking supplies, transporting specimens and blood products, and moving equipment into and out of operating room suites. Freeman Health System’s main operating room has nine surgical suites and offers gynecology, ear, nose and throat, orthopedics, cosmetic, and neurosurgery specialties. The fast-paced procedural area emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. An individualized orientation is provided to prepare employees for perioperative work. This is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week, with 10-hour shifts from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., four days per week.

Requirements

AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 30 days.

Responsibilities
