About The Position
The OR Aide - Operating Room position involves transporting patients to and from the surgical area, changing bed linens, and assisting with patient transfers and procedures. The role also includes ordering and stocking supplies, managing linen and equipment, transporting specimens, and documenting environmental conditions. A key aspect of the job is the ability to identify and address the age-specific needs of patients.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Must be BLS certified or obtain within the first month of hire
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, families and staff
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must possess the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a interdisciplinary team
- The ability to provide direct patient care as needed
Nice To Haves
- 1 year med-surg experience preferred
- Successful completion of an approved certified nursing assistant program preferred
Responsibilities
- Transport patients to and from surgical area
- Change bed linen on in-patient beds prior to placing post op patient back in bed
- Assist in transferring patients from carts to beds in OR
- Act as limb holder for prep when needed
- Assist housekeeping in cleaning and room turnover
- Order storeroom and office supplies for OR, Anesthesia and PACU
- Stock all assigned areas
- Put away linen, equipment and supplies
- Transport specimens to lab
- Document temperature and humidity for all assigned areas
- Identify patient’s age-specific needs
