About The Position

Assists in ensuring optimal patient care by providing basic patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the assigned physical environment and supporting the safe, efficient operation of the surgical department.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; or Two years of experience in an operating room setting
• Experience with operating room turnover
• Knowledge of operating room equipment, beds, and related supplies
• Previous healthcare experience as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant in an operating room setting
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment
• Ability to recognize concerns and take appropriate action
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks while maintaining a safe and clean environment
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

• Prior housekeeping experience is desirable

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care responsibilities as needed under the supervision of an RN or LPN.
• Assists with patient preparation and positioning.
• Performs assigned departmental tasks that support patient transportation, patient positioning, room readiness, and operating room turnover between surgical procedures.
• Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas to maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient environment.
• Keeps shelves stocked with necessary supplies.
• Delivers specimens to the laboratory.
• Retrieves X-rays, patient charts, and other necessary materials.
• Assists with maintaining operating room equipment, beds, and related items.
• Supports the surgical team by completing assigned tasks promptly and accurately.
