About The Position

Ark Valley Vision Care, located in southeast Colorado, is seeking to hire a new optometrist to join their growing practice in the summer of 2026, with a target start date between July 1 and September 1. This is an opportunity to join a thriving, independently owned optometry practice that has been serving the communities around La Junta and Lamar since 2016. The practice aims to be the most trusted eye care provider in the Arkansas River Valley and is the only in-person optometry practice in the valley, offering general optometry, vision therapy, and medical optometry for all ages. The La Junta office is expanding into a larger renovated space, and demand is growing, presenting an exciting opportunity for a new graduate or early-career optometrist to take on a high-impact role with strong mentorship, the chance to build lasting patient relationships, and potential for future partnership.

Requirements

  • Optometry license in the state of Colorado or eligible to obtain licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-scope optometric care for patients of all ages.
  • Perform comprehensive eye exams, including routine vision assessments, refractive evaluations, and ocular health screenings.
  • Diagnose and manage medical eye conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, conjunctivitis, and macular degeneration.
  • Deliver urgent and emergency eye care for injuries, infections, inflammation, and foreign body removal.
  • Prescribe glasses and contact lenses and recommend personalized vision solutions.
  • Use clinical judgment and therapeutic authority to support treatment plans for various ocular conditions.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for cataract and laser procedure patients in coordination with ophthalmology partners.
  • Identify signs of systemic health conditions like diabetes and hypertension and guide patients to appropriate follow-up care.
