About The Position
We are looking for an adventure-seeking Optometrist who is ready to take their career beyond the traditional exam lane! This unique opportunity combines meaningful patient care with travel throughout rural and remote Alaska, reaching communities by vehicle, ferry, or small plane. It is an ideal position for a flexible, resourceful provider who enjoys the outdoors and wants to make a lasting difference in communities with limited access to eye care.
Requirements
- O.D. degree from an accredited Optometry School.
- Completion of all sections of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry Exam.
- Comfortable practicing independently without a technician.
- Confident, adaptable, and skilled at problem-solving.
- Comfortable traveling to rural and remote communities.
- Enjoys the outdoors and is prepared for Alaska’s changing weather conditions.
- Able to transport equipment bags weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Must have an O.D. degree from an accredited Optometry School.
- Must have completed all sections of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry Exam.

Responsibilities
- Provide mobile eye care serving approximately 30 communities throughout Alaska.
- Complete patient workups and examinations.
- Practice independently without a technician.
- Transport examination equipment.
