About The Position

Iberia Comprehensive Community Health Center (ICCHC) and its satellite health centers are the leading providers of primary health care services in the communities we serve, including individuals who are both insured and uninsured. ICCHC provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive health care services, including vision care. ICCHC is currently seeking a full-time Optometric Technician for its Youngsville, LA location.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledgeable of the various aspects of optical operations.
• Understanding of the anatomy of the eye as well as normal, abnormal vision and perception.
• Should possess basic knowledge of optometry terminology, processes and principles.
• Must have a positive attitude towards working with low-income families.

Nice To Haves

• An Associate’s Degree in Optometric Technology preferred.
• Optometric Technician Certification preferred.
• Six months of experience in a vision office as an Optometric Technician highly preferred.
• Previous work experience as a medical assistant considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs required visual tests and prepares patients to be examined by the Optometrist.
• Provides quality direct patient care to all patients served in the optical setting.
• Works to ensure smooth and efficient coordination between physician and patients.
• May also assist with front desk and optician tasks.
