About The Position

America’s Best, part of National Vision, is seeking a part-time, bilingual Spanish Optometric Technician / Medical Assistant. The technician helps keep patient flow efficient by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before the doctor’s examination. This role does not require optical experience or certification; training is provided. The location is closed every Sunday.

The technician supports patient care by explaining preliminary examinations, completing paperwork, performing pre-exam tests, and promoting eligible visual field testing and retinal screenings. The role also includes reviewing prescriptions and patient information, identifying special needs, coordinating with the optician, doctor, or retail management when needed, and helping maintain the doctor’s office, pretest room, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
• Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
• Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing before the doctor’s examination.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Carefully review prescriptions and/or patient information and identify special needs.
• Consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
• Ensure the doctor’s and pretest equipment are properly maintained.
